Hi there. I'm SynthRose.

For privacy reasons, I won't share my real name or exact age, but you can call me Rose, and I am over 18 (though not by much). I live in an all-too-conservative area of the Southwestern US. My pronouns are she/her. It is also vital that you know I have teal hair and use Linux.

Content Warnings

I have severe depression and gender dysphoria and spend way too much time online, so you're likely to see a lot of posts related to those topics. I try to keep the self-harm or suicide-related posts to my alt account, but I can't guarantee it won't occasionally pop up on main. I also spout poorly thought-out far-left political opinions into the void a lot. Since I know minors follow me, I try not to be too risque on my main account, but I will definitely yearnpost about girls. I can also be a bit flirty with mutuals if they seem okay with it - if I overstep a boundary, please let me know.

If you're sensitive to those topics or wish gay people would stop making it their entire personality, I am probably not the person for you.

Education & Occupation

I'm a physics major and computer science minor who regrets going to a conservative, disproportionately white and male private university with no arts, humanities or social science majors that bootlicks for the military-industrial-intelligence complex. I work part-time at the university doing graphics design.

Hobbies

Mostly I spend too much time on Twitter unproductively complaining about politics and dysphoria, but on the rare occasion where I can actually be productive, I usually engage in the unfortunate hobby of programming. I wrote the Art of Alchemy mod for Minecraft, and would be super happy if you checked it out! My favorite language is Ruby, and I'm very excited for Crystal to be production-ready, but most of the time I'm unhappily using Java or MATLAB instead. I also enjoy graphics design and will occasionally make things in Inkscape out of boredom. I'd love to pick up digital art, music composition, or cosplay as a hobby, but I really don't have the mental energy for it right now.

Fandom

I feel like a fake fan of every franchise I get into because I rarely get deep into fandoms and sometimes don't even finish the games, but here are some things I've enjoyed:

  • Persona 5

  • A Hat in Time

  • Paper Mario

  • Breath of the Wild

  • Super Smash Bros Ultimate

  • VA-11 Hall-A

  • Danganronpa

  • Zero Escape

  • Ace Attorney Trilogy

  • Minecraft

  • Terraria

  • Steins;Gate (2011 series, not 0 or the VNs yet)

  • Made in Abyss

  • Vocaloid Music

  • Touhou Music

And here's what I'm currently working on:

  • Persona 3 FES

  • Persona 5 Royal

  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake

  • Highway Blossoms

  • Fullmetal Alchemist

  • Psycho-Pass

That Gay Shit

I'm a transfem sapphic, and though I've been out and on HRT for almost a year, I'm still figuring out my exact identity. I'm not sure yet whether I'm nonbinary or not, but you can call me a girl and use feminine language. I don't get a ton of bottom dysphoria, but my voice, hair, and facial structure are especially distressing to me. I'm mostly into girls, though sometimes I'll find a NB person or anime boy cute. I'm fine with being called "queer" and "dyke." I don't get this whole monoamory thing, but I'm not in a polycule or anything. I'm a switch with some sadomasochistic tendencies.

If you're the sort of person to gatekeep the "trans," "lesbian," or "sapphic" label over any of that, DNI. NB lesbians, mspec lesbians, ace/aro-spectrum people, and plural systems are valid.

Politics & Religion

I'm definitely a leftist of some persuasion, and my primary political goal would be to eliminate hierarchy. I don't think I'm educated enough to pick a specific doctrine, but I would say I tend to lean most towards libertarian socialism. I'll probably get along fine with anarcho-communists, syndicalists, council and left communists, and democratic socialists. I might be a bit more wary around social democrats, social liberals, and Marxist-Leninists. Obviously market liberalism, right-libertarianism, conservatism, and fascism are no-gos.

Basically: If you think the PRC or DPRK are good, that the Soviet Union did nothing wrong, that capitalism is basically good, or that nationalism is basically good, we're going to have some problems.

My family is mostly Christian, but they never tried much to push it on me, and I'm irreligious nowadays. I'm not militant about it - if you're chill, I'm chill.
